The formulas
°C to °F: multiply by 9/5 and add 32. °F to °C: subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. °C to Kelvin: add 273.15. A handy memory point: −40° is the same on both the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales. Room temperature is about 20–22 °C (68–72 °F); body temperature is 37 °C (98.6 °F).
Frequently Asked Questions
What is 100 °C in Fahrenheit?
212 °F — the boiling point of water at sea level.
Why does the Fahrenheit formula add 32?
The two scales have different zero points: water freezes at 0 °C but 32 °F, so the offset of 32 aligns them before scaling.
