Writing amounts in words
On cheques, the amount in words is the legally binding one, which is why banks ask for both. Write the whole part in words, then the cents as a fraction: 1,250.75 becomes "one thousand two hundred fifty dollars and seventy-five cents". This converter handles numbers up to the trillions and follows the standard short-scale naming (thousand, million, billion).
