A PDF made from scans or photos has no text inside at all — each page is just a picture of text. Extractors cannot read pictures; that job needs OCR (optical character recognition), which reads the image. If your result comes back empty, your PDF is a scanned image — our OCR tool is planned in the next PDF batch, and this page will tell you honestly instead of inventing text.
Plain text keeps paragraphs and line breaks but not fonts, columns or tables; multi-column layouts may read column by column imperfectly.
