The calculator subtracts your birthdate from today's date with calendar-aware borrowing: if the day count goes negative it borrows the right number of days from the previous month (28, 29, 30 or 31), so leap years are handled correctly.
Forms, school admissions, driving licences, retirement rules and insurance quotes all turn on exact age — "about 30" is not the same as 29 years and 11 months. Milestones like 10,000 days lived are a fun bonus.
